Overview:- This mod is a rather intresting upgrade on the Capture the flag game that came with Unreal Tournament.If Capture the flag ever became a reality us average people would play the CTF within Unreal,but the Kings,Queens and Tony Blairs of this world would play this.The game seems to have alack of intrest online,as there are only about 16 servers online and ursally only one of them is full or has anybody in.Maybe the failuer of Team Fortress for Half-life to draw in the crowds put many people off this,as it has pratically the same name and same ideas.
Levels + Textures:- The levels in this game can be described in a single word...HUGE...yes,the levels really are huge,the example I can give is the first time I played this online I got lost in my own base and had to ask for someone to guide me the way out.(u can imagine how embarrassing that was) maybe I should have got rid of the Nomad tag for that game..lol anyway I got out charged across to the enemy teams base and got lost in there too,even though the bases are mirror imaged.
The huge size of the levels mean that the level texture are very repetative,but this doesn't have the same effect as something like Strike-Force where you are doing alot of sneaking and hiding around,this is almost the opposite fast,fierious action on a grand scale,so u really don't take notice of the textures too often.
My Basic advise is get some friends to play this mod with(about 16+ players).But even on 16 players you can still sneak into the opponents base unchallenged due to the huge size of the levels.Some levels are taken from Team Fortress so if u have that this might be worth alook.(coincidently they are the smallest levels).Even though the levels are big they are nicely designed and executed no matter how big they are.A added bonus is that at the start when you select a level and it has a screenshot of that level,well UnrealFortress has about 5-6 screenshots for each level to give the player a feel at what the level or arena they are about to enter is really like.
Realism:- Realism??? well no its not realistic to what sociaty and the armed forces are like noadays but who knows what they would be like in 2000 years time??? Well none of us will be here to find out so rather than waiting for a very very very very long time ill use this section to describe the game abit more.
Basically when u start a game you need to pick a character class,these classes are Ranger,Marksman,Arsonist,Demolistions man,heavy weapons guy,medic,amorer,Sabouter.Ranger being lightly Armed and armored,but quick and nibble on his feet,while the Heavy Weapons guy is heavily armored and armed,but is very slow and sluggish on his feet.if the Ranger has nowhere to run from the HWG then how is it the game puts it "he be dead".but if the ranger is out in the open then he can just run.There is a level named Villagechaos which is basically a Dommination game but you have to take flags to the capture points,the flags weigh ur player down,the Ranger going fairly slow with the flag with the HWG hardly moving.if the Ranger has one of these flags and meets a HWG then "he be dead".Really you need to attack in pairs 1 Ranger that takes the flag to the point and the other person as someone like the Arsonist the arsonist can lobflame/smoke granades at the HWG to let the Ranger sneak in wiht the flag.Each character class has its own unique ability Ranger has scanner,armorer has the ability to build drone guns and camaras,saboutras can discise themselfs as being on the enemy team and sneak right into there base.
A.I:-The AI is a very mixed affair in this Mod,in some levels they do as u ask,in others they disobay orders,sometimes they set up sentry guns around the base other times they don't(you are hopefully getting the idea by now).one thing I wish the AI had been programmed to do(and this will hopefully come along soon don't forget this is an early version) and thats throw granades.They seem to put bombs down in very strange places and leaving them just to sit there.But they do use there specials occastionally,like they put this thing(which Icall Mental mine) its a thing that hovers and shoot pellets out that kills and hurts anything in its path or its imidiate visinity.
Overall this Rockz Team Fortress due to the unique equipment and weapons,but the level sizes may disorintate some people and may be to fast for others.
