Overview:- Squad Based action,another Terrorists vs the rest sager but this time its the army and not the police.A Well presented interface as the developers used the original Unreal Tournament main screen and edited it to give a unique feeling and that's before uenter the game!.The added bonus is that Strike-Force has its own separate short cut and is almost a seprate game from Unreal,meaning that u don't have to worry about controls that u have set-up to play a certain mod conflicting with another mod's controls.
Levels + Textures :- The selection of levels are nicely balanced,some of them are for 4-6players while others upto 16 and more players,The level settings also vary alot,Some levels are indoors,outdoors,caves or all three.
The Textures I think let this Mod down abit because they are not very varied through out some levels(i.e same textures all the way round) this is even though the designers have added small details like signs,cups,plates etc.This small moan is only on the larger levels which is logical as it would be very laggy online,but some textures are used to much on the smaller levels where the players would be exspecting alot of detail.
The other downer in some levels is that some areas don't see much action,But it does add that extra bit of terrain detail..and sometimes battles do stray into some unexspected places.
The last moaun which I am sure will be addressed in a future update is that u can get into some very very unexspected places(i.e up mountains and up trees,etc) there is a level where the army guys start in a container compound thats in a canyon,I saw a terrorist guy walking through these containers seaching for his victim and got snipered by a guy that was up the top of one of the canyon mountains and almost out the level.
Sounds:- If u do like atmosheric music in your levels then you will be disappointed with Strike-Force,the music has been replaced by the heart beat of the character your controlling,but this does have its uppers,you can here the gun fights that is going on over the other side of the level.the actral gun effects seem kinda quite to begin with but sound pretty cool.
The bullets hitting and chipping away at walls and objects sound and look very good.
Realism:- This is perhaps the most realistic mod for Unreal Tournament I have tried,but that my well have been cos the programers were aiming to make the mod as realistic as possible.
And I must say they haven't done a two badder job either,the programms made the game so u couldn't jump around as Tatical-Ops and Unreal,Also another idea that takes some getting used to is the fact that the gun is very inaccurate at waist height,so you need to draw it to your eye for accurate shooting but at the same time this slows down your movement,But if u get shot and loose blood ur gun becomes very inaccurate wether u shoot from waist or eye height. Also Fall damage has been changed so u can't survive those great falls off sky scrapers.
Thats just one or two of the differences from the other mods but these are the main and most ovious differences,but the extra realism means that the players have to working as a team to cover each others arses.This mod also forces at least basic communication because the gun sight doesnot identify the enemy from your team mates,this is made harder because the skins from distances look the same.
A.I:- I think the Programmers have done a very good job with the AI on Strike-Force.The programers have created a number of AI paths on each level meaning that the AI could attack from every side,an example of this is on a level where two parrallel bridges cross a river and Army and Terrorists start on Either side of the river.The AI first attacked across one of the bridges and we nailed them all,the next game started and because of my exsprience with Tatical-Ops I was exspecting them to go the same way,but this time they went across the other bridge,causing my team to go into back alley fighting as it were,the next game I pulled out my sniper rifle and put it on full zoom to check the end of the bridge I was on,then I checked out the opposite bridge for some little heads bobbing up and down,But this time tehy tried to sniper me from there dockyard,i wasn't till later that game that they decided to take the bridge.
The AI doesn't get stuck to often(which was a problem on TaticalOps) and it also goes round together,its hard to find an enermy that hasn't got 3-4 of his mates somewhere near him.!!!
